does anyone watch it?.

Yes along with a lot of you, I will watch it.
I remember listening to it on the radio with mum and dad when I was young.
Remember when Abba won it with Waterloo? They were the days!
As for the voting, Dansk has got it right, but also what about Britain - we always give the Irish high marks and they have never ever given us the same sort of marks in return! We probably still see the Irish as friends and they see us as occupiers of Northern Ireland. Better not get me started on the religous/political theme of Northern Ireland, especially as my dad is an Ulsterman!
All the best.

this is a video sent to me by brenda lee, the author of "out of the cocoon",.
of her partaking of the emblems at the jw memorial last month.
I viewed the video and agree with many of the posters here.
1. It was 8 minutes too long.
2. Brenda was being way too disrespectful - there was no need to smirk, no need for the constant and digusting chewing gum.
3. Maybe she got some therapy from it, but she would not have been counted as of the anointed - just another nutter.
She was free to do what she wanted - many of us will not set foot in a Kingdom Hall again. However she really hasn't done anyone, least of all herself, any favours.
Just my humble opinion.

Hi and a warm welcome.
Looking forward to hearing your story.
When I told my story on here I thought no one would be interested - WRONG!
It's great to be among real friends - here on JWD!

well, i'm back after a couple years away from this site.
i still recognize a lot of names here, but there are a lot of new ones too.
i wanted to share an expierience i had with two witness "sisters" at my door a couple weeks ago.
Hi Toladest.
A very heart wrenching story, well told. My thoughts go out to you.
When you mentioned that your mother would never question the religion despite all the evidence, I just want you to know that I have a mum and dad who are just like that too.
Whatever faults and lies that could be proved against the WTBS they would rationalize and believe it is all from satan and that the end must indeed be close now.
This is the same mum and dad who in 1972 said when taking me to my new school that 'this will be your school 'til amargeddon'. I didn't try hard at school thinking what's the pont as the end is coming soon . . . how I wished now that I had applied myself fully.

about 7 months ago i asked the school overseer to take me off the school, as i was 'busy with work exams' things have been good since then (well, sort of...) no talks for 7 months!
but then, my wonderful father, decides to ask the school overseer to put me back on!
he puts me back on!
I feel sorry for you having this sprung on you!
Your father obviously has your (his) interests at heart but you've gotta do what you've gotta do.
I would try and get out of it or make it slightly sarcstic without being obvious.
Good luck!

it is my parents wedding anniversary saturday and every year since i left i have always sent them a card.
i wondered whether i should or not this year.
on balance i wasn't sure what would upset them more - waiting for a card that never came, or receiving a card at all, especially since i said in december that i wouldn't "bother" them anymore.. anyway it felt right to send a card so i did and i decided to put a little note inside, folded and bearing the message: "my news, but don't read it if you aren't interested".
Your reply was spot on,Crumpet.
I hate the fact that my parents are 'old school' too. To give you an idea of how old school - my mum would rather go to prison than sit on a jury. I knew this when I was still 'in'. I said to her it's a conscience matter and as we don't have the death penalty you could never be bloodguilty. She said that we must not judge our fellow man and that she would be prepared to suffer the consequences - sad eh?
Your comments that you may not see your parents again and that they may die soon is exactly how I feel. That's why I've been in turmoil - should I be in contact with them or should I leave them alone, with them always wondering, hoping that they will see me at the meetings again? I think they know that I will never go back. The saddest thing is that they think that any hurt is being done by my actions and not by their slavishly following the ridiculous shunning policies.

Hi Crumpet,
I thought your letter to your parents was superb, letting them know that you are ok and getting on with your life despite their shunning you.
I have not been in verbal contact with my parents for 5 years, since my d'fing. There have been a couple of letters but just to let them know that I moved address and also to inform them that I got married ( the reply to that was a rather terse 'we are glad that you have legalised your union').
My wifes parents do contact her reasonably frequently, to a limited degree and she has been round to their house on a number of occassions - this also is something I hate about the witnesses, that members can interpret rules in different ways and nothing gets said. My parents are of the old school and do everthing to the letter.
I have been in turmoil over the last few months wondering whether to bother and write a letter to my parents - you may have helped me but i still wonder whether it will do any good for me or them.
Kind regards
SAB
